Activities for Water-DROP project:

UNic will be responsible with ENEA for the development of an integrated approach of DSS-GIS for the water cycle management. UNic will define the guidelines for the collection of data and will be in charge for harmonizing the data collected by partners, integrate them with the data at the Mediterranean level and realize the database.

Personnel

Marios Valiantis (Responsible Person for Water-DROP Project)

Dr. Marios Valiantis is currently the Director of the Centre for Green Development and Energy Policy at the University of Nicosia. He is also the Programme Coordinator for the Energy, Oil, Gas and Environmental Management Academic Programmes and the Associate Head of the Department of Management and MIS at the same University. On September 2014, Dr. Valiantis was appointed by the President of Cyprus as a Member of the National Energy Strategy Council.

Dr Marios Valiantis holds a PhD from Imperial College London in the field of Atmospheric Pollution and Transportation.  He also holds a MSc in Environmental Management from Louisiana State University (USA), a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from University of New Orleans (USA), and a BSc in Management and Information Systems from University of New Orleans (USA).

Dr Marios Valiantis worked in the Consultancy area in United States and United Kingdom, and prior to his current position he held the position of the Director of Energy and Environment at the AEA Group (Atomic Energy Authority) of UK in Oxford. He is a certified Prince2 Project Manager and a Lead Auditor of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) and a certified NEBOSH in Oil and Gas Operational Safety. He also holds a Post-Graduate Certification in Higher Education (PGCertHE) and received training on the ISO 50001 - Energy Management Systems.  Dr Valiantis is currently the National Representative of the Horizon 2020 Programme Committee on Transport. Dr. Valiantis has over 15 years of experience in the fields of Energy, Environment and Transportation.
